Locarno Roulette Joins Top Junior Showjumper’s String:

Locarno Roulette, The JumpOff
Ashlee Taylor and Locarno Roulette

The Junior competitive category is always an exciting one to watch as many of the future superstars are developed from here. With these U18 riders showing their mettle, with great determination, competitiveness, and talent, the current group of Junior riders is exceptionally strong. Currently, over 25 riders from around the country are all capable of claiming victory at any given event. On top of the riders’ own abilities, their mounts are just as important to their success and one such junior is pushing hard for her top spot, with a new acquisition for her string.

Ashlee Taylor, daughter of famous South African showjumping couple, Barry and Lorette Taylor of Farnham Stables, has had a natural knack for riding since she first sat in the saddle as a young child. Having grown through the pony ranks as a quick and competitive rider, the transition into the junior category has been reasonably easy sailing for Ashlee as she has been partnered with some quality horses to complement her own talents. Ashlee’s recent debut into the 1.35m heights, at just  16 years old, has shown her drive for success at the top heights and now she is looking to make her mark as a winning junior with her newest addition, Locarno Roulette.

Bred by Claus Kock of the Locarno Stud, Roulette is a 9-year-old gelding by Consuelo out of a Conti mare. Having had a slightly slower start than some other competitive horses, Roulette only made his first 1.30m appearances towards the end of 2020 under the guidance of Ivan van der Sijde from Plettenberg Bay. However, Roulette was then sent to Anthony Kay of Ebb & Flow Stables and Horse Sales in Port Elizabeth in October and in just 2 months, he was sold on to Ashlee. The new partnership is very exciting for Ashlee’s fans as it holds the potential to cement her name into the top junior ranks and beyond.
