The rainy weekend that closed out January was a great competitive weekend as many horses and riders stepped out to kickstart their 2021 showjumping season. While Kyalami Equestrian Park saw the debut of a rising star, Sarah Neill, and Aisling Triggol’s new partnership with Callaho’s Kadice van de Pitsemburg, Burlington Stables also had its fair share of great showjumping.
Through the pouring rain and windy weather, a super young talent from the Farnham team stepped into the Burlington arena; Callaho Bogart. Partnered with Lorette Knowles-Taylor, the pair have been active in the competition arena since 2020 where they won several of the Young Horse Performance Series legs. With the 5-year-old gelding maturing and enjoying his job, his exuberant jump and flashy nature have captured the eye of all around him. Because of his loose shoulder movement, playful nature, and incredibly flexible hindquarters, Bogart is a real sensation to watch.
Bred by the Callaho Warmblood Stud, by Bolzano du Quinze out of a Ramiro Z mare, Bogart’s elasticity and willingness coupled with his bloodlines showcase the outcome of carefully planned breeding partnerships and the production job by Lorette Knowles-Taylor showcases her own abilities as one of South Africa’s most consistent 1.50m level riders. With her 2 Grand Prix horses, Equistro van de Mispelaere and Amor Warande Z, as her foothold at the top, Lorette has also been focussing on developing a quality string of youngsters. The outcome of her hard work and commitment to the development of young horses is visible in the story they tell in the arena.
A truly exciting young horse for the future, we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this partnership.
