With continuous changes being made by our top riders to ensure the best strength at the top levels of the sport, the local breeding studs have also remained active in introducing new bloodlines to their local livestock. And, while this stallion is not new to competition nor breeding, after a reallocation, Callaho Warmblood Stud’s Bolzano Du Quinze is now in the competition arena with Gareth Neill.
Gareth Neill has started off the 2021 showjumping season with great gusto as he introduced another young Callaho to his team in the form of Conny Will. As a rider with an apparent affinity for the stud horses, Gareth has been seen regularly on some top quality horses such as Sigmund (Sampras) and Conchetta (Con Coriano) and the acquisition of this superstar stallion is another feather in Gareth’s cap.

As a top-level athlete with a distinctive style, Gareth has had a superb track record with bringing horses up to the open grades and while Bolzano has previously been competitive up to the 1.30m heights, the expressive 9-year-old stallion by Quaprice Boimargot out of a Ryon d’Annex mare has displayed capabilities suitable for the top heights and is now, both physically and mentally, ready to be encouraged up the grades further.
Beginning his competitive career with Bryce McCall from Blue Rock Stud – himself a stellar athlete in the top grades for several decades – the stallion, Bolzano, secured the attention of all onlookers from a young age as his own talents were highlighted by the imperative training done by Bryce. The partnership grew from strength to strength as they rose through the ranks and continued to impress as they cracked into the 1.30m heights at the end of 2020. It was said by Ivana Callender-Easby of Callaho Warmblood Stud that “the stallion was beautifully produced by Bryce McCall who laid a superb foundation off of which Gareth and Bolzano can now flourish.” It has further been said that Gareth was delighted with the production work done by Bryce and with the new pair in action at Burlington Stables, Bryce was seen on the sidelines encouraging the new partnership – a fantastic show of camaraderie and a proverbial handing over of the baton from one top rider to another.

With Gareth having a fantastic run at the top levels of the sport for several years, his experience, knowledge, and competitiveness are exactly what is required to ensure that the young Bolzano lives up to his true potential. Bolzano has already been an impressive competitor to watch under Gareth as the pair attended the Burlington graded event this past weekend. The stallion looked confident with Gareth as he showed his willingness to tackle every fence in front of him and displayed his confidence in his exuberant jump and elastic hind technique.
While the pair are still very fresh in the competitive circuits, the groundwork and growth done behind the scenes will surely enable the pair to climb the ranks at a decent rate, provide fantastic results, and instil confidence to those who are looking to purchase some of his offspring, including Callaho Balvenie & Beaumont on the upcoming Callaho Winter Collection Auction.
Congratulations on your new partnership Gareth, may the new partnership grow from strength to strength.
