The successful partnership of Dominey Alexander and Catinio, previously owned by Stephanie Glover, has come to an end as Catinio has been moved on to one of Dominey’s recently acquired pupils and an up-and-coming young rider, Jade Coetzee from Team Rotoflo.
The 12-year-old gelding by Catoki out of a Go On Top mare has been a regular feature on the podiums in the 1.35m/1.40m classes with his immense competitiveness and can-do attitude. Under the guidance of Dominey, and for a short time, Lisa Williams, Catinio has steadily progressed up the grades and become somewhat of a ‘schoolmaster’ in these heights. Jade Coetzee is no stranger to competitiveness either as she actively competes on a string on top-notch horses including Rotoflo DSP Crashman who was formerly the ride of top-level showjumper Chris van der Merwe.
Since the purchase of Crashman, Jade has climbed the grades and become a steady competitor in the Junior 1.30m/1.35m category with support from her coach, Kelly O’Connor. Kelly has since taken a step back from coaching due to her upcoming adventure in Europe, prompting Jade’s move to Dominey, who has been Kelly’s coach for a number of years.
Jade’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to her horses and riding have seen her grow from a speedy Pony Rider to an established Junior in just a few short years and with the recent addition of yet another quality horse, the 17-year-old is sure to end her junior career on a high and make her entrance into the adult categories a success in the years to come.
