The President’s Cup, taking place in Krugersdorp, has regularly seen new riders rise to prominence, and the 2020 edition is no different. This year, another new young talent has taken a step into the big leagues with a round in her first 1.50m class – Hanelize Kamffer. With a successful start to her show in the 1.40m 2 Phase competition on her other horse Shadow Fly,  Hanelize decided to give the 2nd round of the 1.50m President’s Cup a go and was later seen to say, “So, On Time and I both did our first 1.50m and we had 3 poles, but this horse is just priceless”.

The young, 20-year-old Hanelize Kamffer from White River in Mpumalanga, has been a regular feature in showjumping over the course of her competitive show jumping career alongside mom and coach, Kraai Kamffer. The President’s Cup, hosted by Maple Ridge, saw the pair’s very first attempt at the 1.50m levels for this young rider on her wonderful grey stallion, White waters On Time. It’s an incredible achievement for any rider but even more so for a young rider like Hanelize who is based in Mpumalanga, where the competition scene is far smaller than areas like Kyalami.

With this achievement not being enough for Hanelize, she continued to compete in the very next class riding her long-time partner Shadow Fly, and claimed the victory in a very competitive 1.40 A2 competition class.
