The sport of showjumping is filled with its ups and downs from the highlights of great victories to the loss of our great equestrian partners. After an incredibly successful showjumping career at the highest levels with Marlene Sinclair, Amaretto has passed away peacefully on the farm to which he was retired.
The 19-year-old gelding by Consuelo out of an Ausehlijz mare was originally the ride of Sean Henderson, who produced him to the top levels where he was then sold on to Marlene Sinclair. After a hiatus from competition, the acquisition of Amaretto saw the return of Marlene to the top ranks and remained highly competitive for several years thereafter. They quickly became a steady competitive force claiming multiple podium positions including a 3rd place at the Revil Stables World Cup Qualifier in 2014 before his retirement, as per SASJ, at the end of 2014. Amaretto, aka Harry, was retired to the farm under the care of Eric Jacobsz.
Marlene thanked Eric for caring for Harry in his final years and continued by thanking her stellar competition partner and friend by saying “Thank you Harry for all you have done.” A wonderful tribute to a horse that Marlene enjoyed so much success with.
