Callaho Joe Cool: Star Stallion for the Future?

The South African showjumping industry not only benefits from the changes to the strings of our top riders but also benefits from the changes made to the breeding foundations of our local stud farms. While often there are changes made without the public knowing or made with the importing of very young future stallions and broodmares, one warmblood stud, in particular, Callaho Warmblood Stud, has been developing its roster of stallions to ensure the successful future of the stud.

After a long history of using Lissabon and Con Coriano as their primary stallions, several new stallions have been added to their programme including Equinox du Chalusse which is currently under saddle with Lara Neill, Callaho’s Cartier with Rainer Korber, and Callaho Chupalight with Ivana Callender-Easby, another young stallion has started his competitive career, Callaho Joe Cool, with stud rider, Rainer Korber.

Joe Cool is the latest young stallion to join the competitive ranks and is likely to become a prominent breeding stallion for the stud’s future auctions. At 4 years old, the impressive grey stallion by Colman out of a Quidam de Revel mare has already made a name for himself with his impressive technique and rideability. Having started his career with several small shows in Kimberley, Joe Cool joined Rainer Korber’s string at the end of 2020 where the new partnership made their debut appearance at the Fourways Riding Centre Christmas Show in the 90cm class.

The pair then started off the 2021 showjumping season with great success as they claimed victory in the 4-year-old potential showjumper category at the first leg of the Young Horse Performance Series sponsored by Reonet and also claimed the best recorded South African Warmblood title for the event. The pair then stepped out at the Burlington graded show in the 1m A2 competition where they, once again, provided a faultless round.

An exciting start to Joe Cool’s career and partnered with Rainer Korber, the journey ahead of this young stallion is sure to be remarkable. Congratulations to all parties involved. We look forward to seeing Joe Cool improve the Callaho offering and can’t wait to see progeny on upcoming Callaho Stud auctions.
